Origins

They say that man began as all life did, in a mystery yet unraveled but clearly marked in the story of the planet.

In the attempts to explain my origin, I have occasionally been told that I evolved, but this is not true.

I did not evolve over the eons. I was thrust into existence suddenly and without explanation,  gasping for air and bereft of a single memory.  I, the individual, cannot be thus placated by a tale of my origin; such stories satisfy only the needs held by the world around me, from whose perspective they are consistent.
